Willa Cather has depicted the life of a troubled teenager in”Paul’s Case.”
After reading the story carefully, write an essay showing Paul’s experience of adolescence as illuminated by Dr. Siegel in Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain. In other words, see all of Paul’s life through Siegel’s theories.
PROMPT: In a four to five-page double-spaced MLA formatted essay identify distinct features, events, and qualities of adolescence from Paul’s life and demonstrate how these specific features, events, or qualities cause Paul’s behavior. You are synthesizing Siegel’s research with Cather’s story and demonstrating the psychological and biological cause of Paul’s behavior. In other words. analyze Paul’s adolescent experience through the lens of Siegel’s research.
Using clear direct quotes with signal phrases and citations, details from the short story with page citations and clear quoted evidence from Siegel with in text citations, show (by using direct quotes) how Paul’s life demonstrates the findings of Siegel’s research about teenage behavior and development. Show how Paul is experiencing adolescent development. Your paper must show a clear introduction and clear college level paragraph structure.
